The BFRC has an aim to promote excellence in the sport and to this end coaching sessions has been a long term ambition
Two sessions of coaching have now been arranged with Robin Taylor.
The primary aim has been to improve 3P shooting standards. To work towards achieving that goal the sessions we each held over a weekend, firstly in October 2017 followed by January 2018.
The structure of the weekend was to focus on the prone position on the first morning, to gain a basic understanding of ability. The afternoon was then devoted to working on the kneeling position. On the second day the standing position was worked on in the morning and then a 3x20 match held in the afternoon, to put into practice the lessons learnt.
The coaching sessions were limited to 5 people as it was felt that this was the maximum number that could be accommodated by 1 coach and a helper. The sessions were run on the 25 yard range at Bisley, on the Malcolm Cooper range. Those who took part thought it was a useful exercise and so it is intended that this should be repeated over the 2018-2019 winter season, possibly at an alternative venue.
